From 8 to 11 July 2026, the Yacht Club de Monaco hosts the 13th edition of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge (MEBC), the must-attend event for sustainable nautical innovation. Weenav, a French specialist in electric propulsion for boats, is proud to announce its participation in this major event with KRONOS, our 100% electric outboard motor.
The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, a global showcase for maritime energy transition
Organised by the Yacht Club de Monaco under the presidency of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, with the support of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, UBS, BMW and SBM Offshore; the MEBC has established itself in thirteen years as the largest open-air laboratory dedicated to alternative energies in boating. The challenge will bring together 43 teams from 21 nationalities from Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa, with over 1000 students and young engineers expected on the docks of the Yacht Club de Monaco.
For four days, participants compete on the water through a demanding programme: manoeuvrability tests, sea trials, speed records, endurance races, and slaloms. The event is now structured around several complementary categories: the Energy Class, the AI Class reserved for autonomous prototypes, the SeaLab Class, and the Open Sea Xperience, a category designed for zero-emission boats that are already certified and ready to sail.
It is precisely in this spirit of bridging innovation and real application, at the heart of the Open Sea Xperience category, that Weenav's approach is situated.
Weenav and KRONOS: electric made in France put to the test in Monaco
Designed and assembled in France, the KRONOS is the result of three years of research and development. Our range of 100% electric outboard motors covers a power range of 80 (59 kW) to 300 horsepower (220 kW) continuous and from 130 hp (96 kW) to 420 hp (300 kW) peak, designed to meet the needs of both leisure boaters and marine professionals.
Some features that make KRONOS a motor tailored for this type of challenge:
- A monobloc and plug & play architecture : the motor integrates all essential components (power electronics, BMS, energy management co-developed with Garmin), limiting wiring to the essentials and facilitating installation in record time.
- Robust LiFePO4 batteries, designed by PowerTech Systems, waterproof IP67, with an estimated lifespan of twenty to thirty years.
- A fast charge up to 22 kW (three-phase 32A), Combo CCS (up to 200 kW), allowing a charge from 20% to 90% in just 20 minutes under optimal conditions. A decisive advantage for the rotation of boats in continuous operation.
- An instant torque and optimal handling, providing an immediate response to commands and precise trajectories, even at very low speeds.
Why this participation matters for Weenav
Participating in the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge is for Weenav an opportunity to confront our technology with the best talents and the most innovative solutions in the nautical world, in real marine operating conditions. It is also a strong signal sent to the industry: the 100% electric propulsion is no longer a laboratory promise, but a mature, reliable and already marketed solution, capable of competing with traditional thermal propulsion.
Beyond the competition, the MEBC is a fantastic place for exchange between students, engineers, shipyards and industry players, all committed to the same goal: to accelerate the energy transition of the maritime sector. Weenav sees it as an ideal showcase to demonstrate French expertise in nautical electric propulsion, and to engage with the players shaping the future of sustainable yachting.
Our participation is also made possible thanks to the support of our sponsor PowerTech Systems, a recognised provider of lithium battery solutions. We would like to thank them for their trust and commitment alongside us throughout this adventure.
See you from 8 to 11 July in Monaco
We will be present throughout the event to showcase KRONOS, exchange with visitors, professionals and enthusiasts of electric boating, and share our vision of silent, efficient and emission-free navigation.
