About Weenav

Our company

Weenav is a French start-up based in Roncq (Lille metropolitan area), founded by three childhood friends who are engineers — two specialists in smart electric vehicles and one expert in information technology. Our core business: designing, equipping and integrating high-power electric and hybrid propulsion systems on new or existing boats, for cleaner and more enjoyable navigation.

Our products

  • KRONOS : Powerful and modular electric outboard motor, designed for fast boats and dynamic navigation, combining performance and responsiveness.
  • ARION : Robust and silent electric inboard motor, integrated into the hull for smooth, vibration-free propulsion, offering optimal navigation comfort.

A turnkey solution

Beyond products, Weenav supports its clients from start to finish: technical studies, custom design, onboard integration, regulatory compliance. This integrated approach makes Weenav a trusted partner in a maritime market undergoing profound transformation.

A strong positioning

With 35 million boats in circulation worldwide and a market potential estimated at 16 billion dollars over the next decade, Weenav is at the crossroads of the energy transition and demanding nautical uses: sustainability, performance, silence.

Objectives of the internship

Participate in the development of a complete embedded monitoring system, by:

  • Exploiting data from the CAN bus,
  • Transforming it into actionable information (electrical values, states, alerts),
  • Transmitting it to a remote server,
  • And integrating these functionalities into a robust and certified IoT gateway.

Missions

Familiarisation with the existing system
  • Understanding the overall architecture of remote monitoring (acquisition → processing → API → web display)
  • Familiarisation with WEENAV software tools (Python, REST API, front-end tools)
  • Reading internal technical documentation

Embedded development (IoT)
  • Reading and decoding CAN frames
  • Transforming raw data into actionable information
  • Setting up processing (filters, aggregation, error detection…)
  • Structuring data for display in the front-end

Communication to the central API
  • Secure sending via HTTPS
  • Management of gateway identification
  • Reporting alerts, errors, and status indicators

Integration onto a certified IoT gateway
  • Deployment and stable execution of the software on an industrial module
  • Service management, logging, redundancy and local supervision
  • Testing and validation in real conditions (simulation or boat)

Contribution to web monitoring (depending on appetite)
  • Help improve curves, tables and visual representations
  • Adapt or enrich backend data to facilitate display
