Description de l'offre

📍 Location : Roncq (59223)

📅 Desired start date: January 2026

About Weenav:

WEENAV develops electric and hybrid motorisation solutions for professional and private boats.

All components (batteries, motors, variable speed drives, Garmin equipment, etc.) communicate via CAN bus, and we are setting up a comprehensive remote monitoring platform, including:

  • Reading electrical system data
  • 4G transmission to a central API
  • Analysis, aggregation, and display on web or mobile interfaces
  • Alerts, diagnostics, and remote control

A preliminary software and hardware architecture is already in place, and the internship aims to continue its development, in particular through integration into a CE-certified industrial IoT gateway, intended for installation on boats equipped with our engines.

Our products:

  • KRONOS: A powerful and adaptable outboard motor designed for fast boats and dynamic sailing.
  • ARION: A robust and discreet inboard engine, integrated into the ship's bilge for smooth, vibration-free navigation.
  • DORIS: A control handle specially designed for electric motors

A turnkey solution: Beyond its products, Weenav supports its customers from start to finish: technical studies, custom design, on-board integration, regulatory compliance. This integrated approach makes Weenav a trusted partner in a rapidly changing maritime market.

A promising position: With 35 million boats in circulation worldwide and an estimated market potential of £16 billion over the next decade, Weenav is at the crossroads of the energy transition and demanding nautical uses: sustainability, performance, silence.

Course objectives

Participate in the development of a comprehensive embedded monitoring system by:

  • Using data from the CAN bus,
  • Transforming them into actionable information (electrical values, statuses, alerts),
  • Transmitting them to a remote server,
  • And by integrating these features into a robust, certified IoT gateway.

Responsibilities:

Getting to grips with the existing system
  • Understanding the overall architecture of remote monitoring (acquisition → processing → API → web display)
  • Proficiency in WEENAV software tools (Python, REST API, front-end tools)
  • Reading internal technical documentation

Embedded development (IoT)
  • Reading and decoding CAN frames
  • Transforming raw data into actionable insights
  • Implementation of processing (filters, aggregation, error detection, etc.)
  • Structuring data for display in the front end

Communication to the central API
  • Secure transmission via HTTPS
  • Gateway identification management
  • Reporting of alerts, errors and status indicators

Integration on a certified IoT gateway
  • Deployment and stable execution of software on an industrial module
  • Service management, logging, redundancy, and local monitoring
  • Tests and validation under real conditions (simulation or boat)

Contribution to web monitoring (depending on interest)
  • Assist in improving graphs, tables, and visual representations
  • Adapt or enrich backend data to facilitate display

Required profile:

Technical skills
  • Very good command of Python
  • Interest in embedded systems / IoT
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (CAN is a plus)
  • REST API / JSON / data processing
  • Bonus: Rust, React, TypeScript, Embedded Linux

Qualities
  • Curiosity, independence, thoroughness
  • Ability to understand complex technical systems
  • Good analytical and organisational skills

What we offer:

  • A rewarding experience within an innovative start-up.
  • Supervision by experienced professionals.
  • The opportunity to work on concrete projects with a real impact.
  • An immersion in the electric and hybrid propulsion sector for boats.
